The Need Greater Than the Resource - How To Participate in the Solution

CWD is a concern of everyone who enjoys and/or depends on our wildlife resources. Finding a solution other than depopulation has to be found. The CWD Alliance's fact-finding and communication effort is well underway. Now, over the need to find a solution, other organizations, companies and individuals have been asking how they can contribute the resources needed. If you are part of an organization, a shooting sports manufacturer, or a concerned individual here is how you can help:

Charter Partners and Steering Committee:
  • Boone and Crockett Club, Mule Deer Foundation, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation are the Charter Partners.
  • The Charter Partners constitute the Alliance Steering Committee and governing body of the Alliance. The Steering Committee may be expanded as the Alliance grows.
  • All Alliance strategic decisions and projects must be approved by unanimous vote of the Steering Committee
  • The Alliance will hold an annual meeting at the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference. All partners and supporters will be invited to attend and participate in a discussion of the Alliance's activities and budget for the coming year.
Additional Partners and Supporters:
  • Additional non-voting partners and supporters may be accepted by unanimous vote of the Steering Committee.
  • Nonprofit organizations will be eligible for partner status.
  • Commercial entities are eligible for supporter status.
  • Prerequisites for inclusion as a partner or supporter include acceptance, adherence to and financial support of the Alliance's mission and activities.
  • An acceptable level of financial and/or other form of support from potential partners or supporters will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Steering Committee.
Individuals

If you would like to get involved, the best way to contribute is by designating funds to one of the partner organizations (pictured at right). Click on the name or logo for their contact information. Remember to designate your contribution for the CWD Alliance.

All funding contributions will be used to implement the mission of the CWD Alliance, under the direction of the Alliance Steering Committee.

Nothing shall preclude any Alliance partner or supporter from adopting its own, independent position statements, documents or news releases related to CWD, but each partner agrees that such items will be consistent with Alliance efforts and in the spirit of cooperation. Further, each partner agrees to share such items with other members of the Alliance.

Implementation

The Steering Committee authorize the Wildlife Management Institute to coordinate the Alliance's efforts. These efforts shall include, but are not limited to, the activities described above, plus disseminating timely information about CWD to the partners and supporters, developing recommendations for action, working with media, presenting information to appropriate audiences (including the partners' and supporters' members, staffs, and boards of directors), representing the Alliance on various committees and task forces and soliciting additional partners and financial support for the Alliance's activities.

All Alliance partners will share in the costs associated with funding the Alliance's projects and activities. The Wildlife Management Institute will serve as the Alliance's fiduciary and fund administrator.
