The IDEXX HerdChek® Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Antigen Test is the first in a new line of postmortem transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) tests; and has received USDA approval for postmortem testing of CWD in white-tailed deer and mule deer. This test offers reliable and accurate results in under 3.5 hours, with less than one hour hands-on time. IDEXX anticipates submitting to the USDA additional claims for North American elk.
IDEXX has also received USDA approval for its bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) test, and plans to gain an approval for scrapie test in sheep. In compliance with USDA regulations all TSE tests (i.e., CWD, Scrapie and BSE) must be performed in USDA-approved laboratories.
